At the Sampradānam Samskritam School, the instruction process starts with gauging the student’s ability to comprehend and understand the basic elements of the Samskritam Bhasha i.e., the alphabets, the Devanagari script, the intonation of the words, etc. Initial focus is on knowing and understanding words in Samskritam and practicing their pronunciation. The Samskritam word उच्चारण (uchcharaṇam) means pronunciation, articulation, or enunciation in English. It refers to the act of producing words and sounds, or the specific way words are sounded.
Once the student has understood the basics of the Samskritam Bhasha, they move to the next phase, Vyakarana or Samskritam Grammar. This is, perhaps, the longest and most important part of the learning process. The student learns words, nouns, pronouns, gender, present tense, past tense and future tense, how to put words in order, connect words to form sentences, write, speak and understand the meaning of the sentences. During this learning phase, conversations are done in Samskritam for the student to grasp the language system, and have fun!”
